Honoring Traditions, Enriching Our Community

East Woods School is a welcoming, family-centered community where parents are seen as essential partners in their children's education. We actively encourage parents to participate in school life as much as possible, understanding that busy schedules are a reality. Family involvement makes a meaningful impact, helping to shape East Woods into the warm, nurturing, and community-focused school it is today.

East Woods School celebrates a rich variety of traditions that bring the community together throughout the year. Signature events include the Kindergarten “Queen/King Bee Day,” where students present personal projects, and the Third Grade State Fair, showcasing students’ research on U.S. states. The annual Upper School musical highlights student talents, while the All School Family BBQ, Parents' Visiting Day, and Holiday Bazaar & Pancake Breakfast create opportunities for families to connect. These traditions nurture school spirit, encourage student growth, and foster a tight-knit, supportive community.

East Woods is proud to include and involve the families of our students in many ongoing traditions.

Commencement

Each year, the school holds a traditional commencement ceremony to celebrate the accomplishments of its graduating class. The event begins with a formal procession of the graduates, observed by family, alumni, and friends. The head of the school welcomes everyone and acknowledges the faculty for their valuable contributions. A special speaker, often someone who has formed meaningful connections with the students, delivers an address filled with personal reflections and life lessons, inspiring all present. The ceremony also includes the announcement of alumni awards to distinguished former students, highlighting their achievements and community involvement. Concluding with the presentation of academic and creative awards, the head of school reads personalized tributes as each graduate receives their diploma. This cherished tradition not only honors the graduates' hard work but also fosters a strong sense of community and pride as the school looks forward to their future successes.

Winter and Spring Concerts

Our students are sure to impress our community with their musical talents! With songs performed by various classes and musical performances by our chorus and bands, these are fun and impressive presentations.

Holiday Bazaar & Pancake Breakfast

This holiday-themed tradition can not have happen without the hard work and dedication of our Eighth Grade students and parents. The bazaar involves a delicious pancake breakfast, followed by a morning of shopping for handmade crafts.

Head of the Table

Parents join their Lower School child at our bi-monthly "Head of the Table" lunches. This is more than just a meal—it's an opportunity to be part of our school community, connect with other parents, and see your child in their school environment.

Special Persons' Visiting Day

On this special day we welcome grandparents and special guests of our students to East Woods to spend a morning at school. This day is another great example of how East Woods truly exemplifies a family-centered, community-focused school.

Parents Visiting Day

One of many long-standing East Woods traditions, we invite the parents of our students to spend a morning at East Woods with their child. Students and parents look forward to this day every year, whether attending the Pre-Kindergarten classroom or a Seventh Grade science lab.

Fall Family BBQ
We host an All School Family BBQ in September with a warm welcome to all new East Woods families and a warm welcome back to all returning families. This relaxed and cheery BBQ reunites old friends, introduces new friends, and sets the tone for a great, parent-involved school year.
Halloween Parade

Halloween at East Woods School is a treasured annual tradition eagerly anticipated by the community. On this day, students, teachers, and staff transform the campus with their most creative costumes, filling the atmosphere with excitement and joy. The celebration features a spirited parade where participants showcase their costumes, culminating in the grand reveal of the Eighth Grade group costume—a well-kept secret designed in collaboration with the art teacher that captivates everyone. Following the parade, the festivities continue with a spectacular Trunk or Treat event featuring imaginative themes like beloved characters, digital worlds, interstellar adventures, and sweet paradises. This Halloween extravaganza is a vibrant display of creativity and community spirit, making it a memorable occasion for all ages.
