Gifts to The Fund for East Woods range from $25 to more than $25,000. Every donation demonstrates a commitment to East Woods and its mission. While leadership gifts are key to setting the foundation to help us meet our goals, smaller gifts add up and are equally important and equally appreciated.

• Cash
  • The easiest way to give to East Woods is by check or credit card. All gifts are tax deductible to the full extent of the law and can be paid by check or credit card (Visa or MasterCard). For your convenience, you may make a gift by Online Giving.

• Securities
  • A gift of appreciated securities is a popular alternative to a cash gift because it offers a two-fold tax savings. It provides you with an income tax deduction (equal to the fair market value at the date of transfer) and may reduce capital gains tax. To transfer stock, please request transfer instructions by calling the Development Office at 516-922-4400 x107. Please inform us which securities and the number of shares that you will be transferring. The school’s corporate name is “East Woods School.” The school’s tax identification number is 11-1554072.

• Matching gifts
  • You can increase the size of your gift by taking advantage of a corporate matching gift program, if available through your place of work. Your gift may be doubled or even tripled by your employer. Simply complete the matching gift form, available through your employer’s personnel office, and enclose it with your gift.

Many alums, parents, grandparents, parents of alums, and friends of East Woods School have chosen to pay tribute to an individual or group by making a gift in honor or in memory. For example, one may honor the birth of a child or honor a child’s birthday with the gift of a book to the Library. Memorial gifts are often made in memory of members of the East Woods’ community. These gifts provide unrestricted support that will benefit current and future students.

• Faculty Endowment
  • Enables us to attract and retain the best teachers. Funds will provide professional development, graduate studies and retirement benefit plans.

• Scholarship Endowment
  • Income will provide scholarships to students in need of financial assistance.

• General Endowment
  • Unrestricted endowments allow the Trustees and Head of School the greatest flexibility to respond to educational initiatives and unforeseen expenses such as emergency repairs to our building and grounds.

• Bequests
  • Including East Woods School in your Will is a simple way to provide important support for the future of the school and reduce estate taxes. You may choose to provide a percentage of your estate or a specific dollar amount.

• Charitable Gift Annuities
  • Charitable gift annuities provide fixed income to the donor or to other beneficiaries for life, desirable tax benefits, and a substantial gift to East Woods School at the end of the contract.

• Charitable Remainder Trusts
  • A Charitable Remainder Trust offers important tax benefits, allows the donor and/or other beneficiaries to receive lifetime income from the trust, and then transfers the remaining assets in the trust to East Woods School.

• Charitable Lead Trusts
  • A Charitable Lead Trust provides annual income to the school during the donor’s lifetime or for a term of years, and then transfers the remaining assets to the donor’s heirs, which can be an important estate planning strategy.

• Life Insurance
  • Gifts of life insurance can create permanent and secure support for East Woods and generate an income tax deduction for you. If you make the school the owner of a paid-up policy, you will receive an income tax deduction for the value of the policy. If you name the school as a beneficiary of the policy., and retain ownership, you will receive an estate tax deduction for the death benefit paid to the school.

East Woods’ strong spirit of community welcomes participation from supportive parents and grandparents, dedicated faculty, inquisitive students, loyal alums, and friends. Their gifts of time, talents, and resources benefit the children directly and make a difference in our school community. There are many ways that one can join East Woods' community of volunteers. Please contact your child's class parent or a committee chairperson from the Parent's Association.

East Woods Dinner Dance & Auction and Spring Fair Weekend is a major “fundraising” and “friendraising” event for the school. Monies generated from this event support The Annual Fund which offsets the gap between the monies collected through tuition and fees, and the operational expenses of the school. The Spring Fair Weekend is designed to be a lively "friendraiser" for East Woods community members and friends. Our campus grounds are transformed into a true fairground where there is something for all ages - games, rides, face painting, live bands, and food. In order to make the Spring Fair successful, we need everyone's help! There are many ways in which you can volunteer your time, resources, and talent. Also, please join us in soliciting donations for the auction or selling ads for our Journal.
