Dear EWS Parents,
Just a reminder, if your child has a symptom on the COVID-19 list, s/he must stay home and you need to have your child evaluated. Your child may not return to school unless we receive written negative COVID-19 test results from a lab/doctor OR a note from a doctor's office saying your child is cleared to return to school.
If your child has a chronic condition such as allergies or migraines, the DOH has released new guidance this weekend for you as a parent and for schools. DOH / BOCES Guidelines
I am attaching the NYS DOH toolkit for parents to assist you, as well as the new directive from the DOH which came through Nassau County BOCES. Please read carefully and keep it for easy reference. Pre-K to Gr 12 COVID-19 Toolkit
I want to thank you - so many families are doing the right thing and keeping children home if they show symptoms. On average, 3-5 people in our community are being tested each week. So far, knock on wood, we have had no positive tests within our community. This does not mean, however, that we don't have asymptomatic individuals we don't know about in our community. We also know this status can change quickly.
So far we are beginning WEEK 7 of in-person school. Let us keep our goal of in-person school in sharp focus.
Thank you for all you are doing to be extra careful, Sincerely,
Laura Kang Head of School
