Upper School (Grades 5-8)

The Upper School at East Woods, encompassing grades five through eight, offers a well-rounded, accelerated, and interdisciplinary curriculum designed to challenge students and foster leadership, academic excellence, and responsible citizenship. Students are immersed in various subjects, including science, technology, math, world languages, history, literature, athletics, and the arts (musical, performing, and studio). They are encouraged to develop essential reading, writing, speaking, listening, and thinking skills across all disciplines. They are given numerous opportunities to perform, lead, speak to large audiences, engage with the local community, and travel locally and abroad. The curriculum incorporates technology, music, theater, industrial and studio art, and the Advanced Learning Program, which fosters scientific discovery. The cross-curricular approach helps students become well-rounded individuals, and their progress is measured using a traditional letter grading system to assess their performance and work ethic.
