Upper School Students Attended a Conference on Genocide

Here are some of the students' comments about their experience at the Conference:

"Each of the two speakers told of their life struggles through the gruesome horrors of genocide; and although they were both different people, their tales were the same. Through their horrid past, a Holocaust survivor and a Rwandan Genocide survivor became friends and now offer the world a once in a lifetime experience by telling the stories they have ... they advised each of us to do what we can to prevent anything as horrible as Genocide from occurring again. I know I will do what I can to do my part." Dillon Wilensky

"Going to the Conference was an incredibly inspiring and moving experience for me. David's speech about surviving the Holocaust especially touched me, because my own grandparents are Holocaust survivors, and his story was reminiscent of the tortures that my own relatives endured." Brittany Kriegstein

"When Jacqueline Murkatete gave her speech about surviving the genocide in Rwanda, I was thinking that it didn't seem real that something so horrible could happen so recently." Scarlett Lopez
