Let us remember that,
as much has been given us,
much will be expected from us,
and that true homage comes
from the heart
as well as from the lips,
and shows itself in deeds.
-- Theodore Roosevelt

Ever since its founding, East Woods has sought to teach its students both exemplary academics and the life-changing value of social responsibility. Students in all grades take active roles in community projects, from cleaning up local beaches to gathering warm coats in winter for children whose families are unable to buy them.

To this end, The East Woods Community Service Director engages students’ minds and hearts in diverse activities each semester. Activities include a car wash to raise funds for selected projects, annual beach clean-ups, homework tutoring for students at a local family center, volunteering at nearby environmental fairs, singing at a senior center and entertaining children at a local home-care program holiday party. School parents enthusiastically encourage participation.

Of special importance to our students, faculty and parents is the understanding that community service at East Woods School is global … from helping neighbors to aiding needy individuals in impoverished areas throughout the world.
