Dry Ice

To go along with their discussion of phases changes, the students had the opportunity to experience hands on fun with dry ice.  Dry ice is solid carbon dioxide.  Unlike most compounds, carbon dioxide can change from the solid phase directly to the gas phase without passing though the liquid phase.  This process is called sublimination.  The students were able to witness the sublimination of the dry ice, create bubbles and "fog out" the room!
