American Pride Assembly

On Friday, September 10, 2010, East Woods School students, faculty and friends honored the anniversary of September 11 and celebrated the American spirit with an American Pride Assembly in the Front Circle. After all joined in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and singing "America the Beautiful", Headmaster Nathaniel Peirce remarked on the day’s significance. The Ninth grade, led by Mr. John McDade, carried the American flag across the front circle.  Mr. Oechslin and second grade student Spencer Kriegstein played a number of patriotic songs including  "God Bless America." Before closing the ceremony, Dr. Peirce asked all to join him in a moment of silence and to reflect on the meaning of the day and remember John Niven, EWS Class of 1973, who lost his life on September 11.
