Ice Cream Social

On Friday, September 24, the Kindergarten class participated in an ice cream social with the Eighth and Ninth graders. Before ice cream was distributed, the Upper School spent time speaking about their favorite memories of Kindergarten, and also shared advice that they had on getting older. It was quite touching!

Following their remarks, Mr. Carter and Mr. Aborn discussed the recent assemblies on anti-bullying, caring and community. They talked again about what it meant to be a good, supportive friend and reminded students that if they saw something that made others feel bad, they should speak up and say, “Excuse me, but we don’t do things like this at our school!”
It was so meaningful to have this experience with the older and younger students together. To seal the school pledge to speak up, both groups of students signed a banner that will soon be signed by the rest of our EWS community. Once completed, the banner will be hung in a public location, so everyone can see how important this is to East Woods students and faculty!
