Dear Parents,
As you probably know, your local school district is required to provide textbooks to students in grades Kindergarten through 8 who attend nonpublic schools. Most East Woods families take advantage of this opportunity to borrow textbooks from their districts for the school year. The procedure for doing this depends on where you live:
Suffolk County Residents:
Please note important changes to the textbook procedure:
You need to fill out an Eastern Suffolk BOCES textbook form, which can be downloaded from the East Woods website. Use the online book list to fill in the necessary information for your child's textbooks and workbooks. It is absolutely necessary that you include the ISBN number for each book ordered. Please sign and return the form to East Woods (attention: Textbook Coordinator). At the end of the this school year, East Woods will collect Suffolk BOCES textbooks. Beginning with the 2012-13 school year, Suffolk BOCES will be delivering all books to East Woods. They will be distributed to students when school reopens in September. You will no longer be required to pick up or drop off books at the textbook center. Paperback books and magazines for class use in grades 6-8 must be purchased from East Woods. You do not need to order these materials; East Woods will order them and bill them to your account. With the exception of these items, you are not required to purchase books.
Nassau County residents:
You need to fill out a textbook request form (available on the East Woods website) and return it to East Woods (attention: Textbook Coordinator). Books will be distributed by East Woods in the Fall and textbooks must be returned to East Woods at the end of the school year. Workbooks do not have to be returned. Paperback books and magazines for class use in grades 6-8 must be purchased from East Woods. You do not need to order these materials; East Woods will order them and bill them to your account. With the exception of these items, you are not required to purchase books.
Book forms and lists can be accessed from the “Textbook Ordering’ link in the Parents page menu on the East Woods website.
All forms must be returned to East Woods by Thursday, May 31st. You must return the appropriate paperwork by that time to ensure that your child will have the books he/she needs for the coming school year. Please email me (tknight@eastwoods.org ) if you have any questions.
