Dear Friends,
What is the essence of East Woods that makes us unique and different? I believe you will find it in the relationships that are forged in the classroom, beyond the classroom and in the community. Our faculty, with the support of our parents, has created an innovative and nurturing atmosphere that encourages the children to discover themselves and pursue their academic, creative and athletic interests. It is celebrated every day in the joy our faculty take in teaching and the students in learning.
As our students grow up at East Woods, they become positive, confident, curious and accomplished scholars. Robert Lindsay, Class of 1969 and father of four East Woods alumni, in a recent graduation speech, described East Woods as place that “produces positive, energetic and honest kids.” This is no accident; it is in our DNA. He is so right. Every time that I have an opportunity to speak with our graduates, they always tell me about the important relationships that they had with their teachers and the strong academic foundation that was built at East Woods. Time and again, they feel that they were well-prepared for secondary school and often were more advanced in many of their subjects than their classmates from other schools.
At East Woods, we give our students the confidence and security to take intellectual risks, to achieve their full potential, and give them the academic and social skills they need for success in secondary school and beyond. We give them roots; we give them wings.
All the best,
Nathaniel W. Peirce, Ed.D.
