At East Woods, every Fifth through Ninth Grade student participates in interscholastic athletics during fall, winter and spring. There are boys and girls teams in soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, and lacrosse. Ice hockey and cross country are co-ed sports in Fifth through Ninth Grade. Any student in Fifth through Ninth grade who would like to play ice hockey or cross country is permitted to do so pending parent approval.

During the fall, soccer is offered to the boys and girls on each level. Cross country is also offered in the fall.  In the winter, ice hockey and basketball on each level are offered to both the boys and girls. East Woods also offers a fitness class to girls in Fifth through Ninth Grade during the winter season. During the spring season, baseball and lacrosse are offered to the boys on each level. Lacrosse and softball on each level are the offerings for the girls.

Teams are grouped by grade (Fifth and Sixth Grade students are on Junior Varsity teams; Seventh, Eighth and Ninth Grade students play on Varsity teams) and by ability levels. If there is more than one team of the same age students, one squad may compete at higher level. Ice hockey is the only sport in which there is no separation by grade ability.

Students in Fifth through Ninth Grade also participate in various special events throughout the year during sports time. All students in Fifth through Ninth Grade are divided into Green and White Teams. Points are awarded for both academic and athletic achievement. At the end of each athletic season, the students play a Green and White game in their respective sport. The school year culminates with the Green and White Field Day. In the Fall, the students compete in the Turkey Trot, a mini-thon run through the East Woods campus.

The Athletic Director is responsible for the organization of the Athletics program. He organizes the scheduling of all games, assigns coaching duties and oversees the daily operation of the athletics program. The coaching of the sports teams is done by the Athletic Director as well as East Woods teachers who have experience in athletics.
