| Eighth Graders Engaged in a Political Debate |
The history program at East Woods is designed to guide each student through a cohesive and continuous curriculum from Kindergarten through Ninth Grade. At each grade level, the curriculum and the expectations of the teachers are matched with the teaching of geography as well as local, national and World/Global History. East Woods believes that each subject area must be developed based on existing knowledge in order to highlight their relevance and richness; therefore, sociology, philosophy, literature, economics and political science are taught throughout the curriculum at East Woods. Whenever possible, history is integrated with other disciplines, especially literature to assist students in exploring a variety of topics from a variety of perspectives.
The main objective is to give each student a foundation of knowledge, skills and confidence to help him or her become an independent, thinking adult and a responsible, active citizen.
