The focus of the Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) is on helping the young child become aware of him/herself as a student. The children are encouraged to become cooperative members of a classroom community in which they support each other and see each other as a resource. As these young students become more independent, they assume more responsibility. The science curriculum which includes predicting, experimenting and observing results, encourages children to explore their own ideas and be receptive to new information. Early reading, writing and math become immediately useful as students develop critical thinking skills. Children leave Pre-K enjoying learning and ready for a full day and more advanced skills taught in Kindergarten.
Pre-K consists of two classes: Pre-K North and Pre-K South.
