Mrs. Carol Rogers, Director of ECC, reads to Pre-K students.

East Woods Early Childhood Center (ECC) is a wonderful educational beginning for your child. It provides a gentle transition from home to school in a loving and nurturing environment.

ECC consists of a Pre-Nursery class, two Nursery classes and two Pre-Kindergarten classes. Our half-day Monday through Friday classes address the social, emotional, physical, creative and intellectual development of young children and prepare them for later academic challenges. "Play with purpose," both individually and in organized groups, heightens children's interest and channels their learning in a stimulating and literature rich environment. Through enjoyable daily activities such as listening to children's books read aloud, storytelling, singing, puppetry and role-playing, our students improve their abilities to express themselves clearly, listen attentively and use their imaginations while deepening their understanding of the world. Educational games and exercises develop the building blocks for reading, writing, science and mathematics.

Technology is introduced in age-appropriate educational software. Weekly classes in the school library, in physical education (to develop large and small muscles) and in music round out the learning experience.

The Early Childhood Center Program seeks to make children happy, curious and eager to learn; to ensure that children are successful and enjoy coming to school; to instill in children a sense of pride in themselves and curiosity about the world; and, to prepare children for academics.
