East Woods School is an independent, non-sectarian, coeducational day school for students in Nursery through Ninth Grade. A group of concerned parents founded the school in 1946 to provide children with an education combining exemplary academics and character development. It is incorporated, chartered by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York and operated on a not-for-profit basis by an appointed twenty-four member Board of Trustees. East Woods is fully accredited by the State of New York through the New York State Association of Independent Schools and is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools.
The school is located in Oyster Bay, on Long Island’s north shore, 35 miles from New York City. Housed in a Georgian brick building, with several additions, East Woods is set on 46-acres of fields and woods. The campus offers the setting for a cohesive, disciplined and caring academic environment.
East Woods serves students from many local communities including Oyster Bay, Centerport, Cold Spring Harbor, Locust Valley, Huntington, Glen Cove and Syosset. Our safe, inviting campus combines tradition with modernity … facilities include an Early Childhood wing, a library of 20,000 volumes, a science lab, a technology center with computer classroom and lab, an art studio, a wood shop, two music rooms, two gymnasiums, four beautiful playing fields and outdoor swimming pools for our Summer Discovery Program.
